Darenkov Sergei Petrovich
Sergei Petrovich was born in 1957, in Omsk. In 1980, he graduated from the 2nd Moscow Order of Lenin State Medical Institute named after N.I. Pirogov - MOLSMI (The Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University - RNRMU. After that he worked as a junior researcher at the experimental surgery department in the same Institute. He had his residency training in surgery in City Clinical Hospital №31, Moscow. In 1984, he defended his master's thesis entitled "An evidence-based approach of using duodenoplasty combined with the selective proximal vagotomy in surgical treatment of stenotic duodenal ulcer".
Since 1985 Sergei Petrovich works at the Scientific Research Institute of Urology of the
Ministry of Health of Russia, where he consistently took the positions of senior researcher and leading researcher at the efferent therapy department. From 1995 till 2003 he was the head of the department of reconstructive uronephrology and since 2003 he is a deputy director of the SRI of Urology of the MH of Russia.
In 1999, S.P. Darenkov successfully defended his doctoral thesis entitled "Contemporary techniques for the diagnosis and surgical treatment of patients with renovascular hypertension". He took traineeships in leading clinics of Germany, the USA, Italy, Austria, Egypt, France, which were mainly devoted to the problems of reconstructive urology, surgical andrology, urine derivation, urethral reconstruction, renal transplantation, urinary incontinence and laparoscopy in urology. On the topic of his doctoral thesis he practiced at the Vascular Surgery Department of the Institute of Surgery named after A.V. Vishnevsky and at the Cleveland Clinic's Urology department (USA). He passed improvement courses on the program "Concept of development of public health and medical science in the Russian Federation. Problems of healthcare reform in Russia".
Sergei Petrovich took an active part in the scientific and teaching work of the Institute giving the young urologists certain knowledge in the questions of reconstructive urology.
From 2008 till 2014 he was the head of the department of urology of the RNRMU named after N.I. Pirogov. Sergei Petrovich Darenkov is the head of the leading scientific school which was the winner of the contest among the leading scientific schools of Russia in 2010 and 2012. According to the results of that contest, his school was given grants and federal funding support.
Sergei Petrovich has certificates in urology and oncology and the highest level of qualification in urology. Among the main priorities of his professional and scientific work are surgical oncourology (prostate, bladder, renal and testicular cancer), kidney surgery, different types of surgical procedures within the urinary tract, reconstructive urinary tract and bladder surgery, penile reconstruction surgery, general urology. S.P. Darenkov is a recognized specialist in the surgical treatment of localized prostate cancer as well as invasive bladder cancer.
He is one of the pioneers in Russia who invented and implemented into daily routine practice radical cystectomy, which is considered to be the most effective surgical procedure for treating bladder cancer. He has a huge professional experience of performing this type of surgical operations in Russia and a unique for Russia experience of performing heterotopic urinary reservoirs.
Sergei Petrovich published more than 300 scientific works in Russian and foreign literature, including guidelines, chapters in the training manuals, books and monographs in urology. He made oral presentations at a variety of national and international symposiums, workshops and conferences. Sergei Petrovich takes an active part in the work of the Moscow and Russian society of urologists. He is a member of the Bureau of the Russian Society of urologists, a board member of the Russian Society of oncourologists, a member of the European and American Associations of Urology.
Since 2005 till present S.P. Darenkov is the chief urologist at the Central Clinical Hospital of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation. Sergei Petrovich performs a variety of surgical operations in different clinics. He is the head of the surgical team in the most severe cases in oncourology as well as in reconstructive surgical procedures.
